A residence permit in Slovenia can be obtained by opening a company or its branch in the country. A foreigner can obtain permanent residence after 5 years, and citizenship after 10 years of residence in the country. BUSINESS IMMIGRATION PrOCEDURE

To launch the process and obtain a Slovenian residence permit, a few steps must be taken:

• opening a company in Slovenia, in accordance with the number of founders and the chosen form of organization;
• registering at the tax office and getting a tax number;
• opening a bank account and depositing funds as authorized capital (minimum is €7500);
• submitting a request for a residence permit.

Each of the steps is a set of procedures that can be difficult for a foreigner. There are twists and turns that many entrepreneurs are not aware of when starting a business in this country.

HOW TO OBTAIN A RESIDENCE PERMIT

The easiest way to get a residence permit is to initially obtain an employment in your own company. This should not be a managerial position (director, manager) and not a regular employee - you need to be a unique specialist.
There are other options. For example, employment in a Slovenian company for a period of 6 months or more, six months’ company turnover of at least 10 thousand euros, or purchase of equipment equivalent to 50 thousand euros. In this case, after obtaining a residence permit, you can reunite with your family.

Slovenian employers have the right to employ foreigners subject to several conditions:

• no candidate was found among Slovenian citizens;
• a foreigner has necessary qualifications;
• all formalities have been completed and taxes have been paid;
• a company had at least one full-time employee in the last six months.

Employment is performed strictly in line with the education received. Only after getting employment, it is possible to purchase real estate, or extend a residence permit. Our immigration specialist in Ljubljana explains that the procedure is usually divided into several stages:
